After landing Chris Pratt (Zero Dark Thirty) as Star-Lord and Dave Bautista (The Man With The Iron Fists) as Drax The Destroyer, casting for Marvel Studios’ space epic Guardians Of The Galaxy is moving ahead. This week, it was reported that none other than Zoe Saldana was in talks to play the female lead, Gamora (who is known as the most dangerous woman in the galaxy). The actress is no stranger to the sci-fi genre, having previously played Neytiri in James Cameron’s Avatar and is currently Uhura in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek series, proving that she’s a welcome addition to Guardians Of The Galaxy.
In other Guardians news, a new rumor suggests that the James Gunn-directed movie will feature ‘The Controller’ as one of the villains. The character is known as a henchman and ambassador for Thanos, who appeared in the post-credits scene of The Avengers and is rumored to terrorize Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in the sequel as well as GOTG. The Controller also happens to be a frequent enemy of Iron Man, and has interacted with the likes of Justin Hammer and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jasper Sitwell. Stay tuned for more news as we have it. Guardians Of The Galaxy is shooting this summer for an August 1st, 2014 release. [The Hollywood Reporter, Latino-Review]
