Below are a couple of different news pieces for Marvel Studios’ planned adaptation of Doctor Strange, which is confirmed to make an appearance in Phase Three. In an interview with Comic Book Movie, Evil Dead director Fede Alvarez addressed rumors that he was discussing tackling the Sorcerer Supreme’s big screen debut. “Yeah, I read that. That’s not true. Making a Marvel movie would be something that I would really love, I’m a big fan, but we’ve never really discussed that project. I don’t know where that came from.” Despite this, he then expressed interest in tackling a comic book film at some point. “Comic book movies, they have a lot of potential if you do it the right way. There’s definitely a lot of fun things to do there, so we’ll see. We’ll see what happens in the future…”
In other Strange news (no pun intended), a new rumor has surfaced concerning who will be tackling the role of Stephen Strange. An “industry source” tells Chud that actor/screenwriter Justin Theroux (who previously worked with Marvel on the Iron Man 2 script) is being looked at to play Doctor Strange. It’s unknown if there are any other actors in contention right now, but there is said to be strong interest in seeing Theroux play the Sorcerer Supreme. Stay tuned for more on this as we have it.
