Disney To Release New STAR WARS Film Every Summer, Beginning With EPISODE VII In 2015

When Disney acquired LucasFilm and the Star Wars franchise back in October, it was announced that we would be getting a series of stand alone projects/character spin-offs, in addition to a new sequel trilogy. Two of these films are being written by Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back) and Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days Of Future Past), who are also consulting on the J.J. Abrams-directed Episode VII. Now, we have a good idea of how to expect the next wave of Star Wars films to play out. At CinemaCon this week, Disney confirmed that, starting with Episode VII in 2015, we can expect a new Star Wars film to be released every year. The studio will alternate every other year with a film of the main series and a character spin-off. It has been rumored that Han Solo, Yoda, and Boba Fett will all get their own films in the near future. So be prepared for a truckload of Star Wars installments coming to your local theater soon.
