CHRONICLE Star Michael B. Jordan In Contention To Play Human Torch In FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot

With filming expected to begin this fall, casting is finally heading underway for Fox’s reboot of the Fantastic Four franchise, which will be directed by Josh Trank and produced by Matthew Vaughn. The first official contender for the film is none other than up and coming actor Michael B. Jordan, who recently worked with Trank on Chronicle and is currently receiving praise for his performance in the Sundance hit Fruitvale Station. He has talked with Fox about playing Human Torch, who was played by Chris Evans in the first two Fantastic Four films. And he has a good relationship with Trank, which makes his casting more likely. Of course, whether or not Jordan lands the role depends on how well he works  with other actors on the film,  which apparently has yet to be greenlit despite its March 6th, 2015 release date. This casting is notable, as the potential race change for Johnny Storm is sure to cause a massive controversy among die-hard fans. Additionally, it has been reported recently that Girls star Allison Williams was up for a role, likely Sue Storm/Invisible Woman. Obviously some explaining would have to be made if the two siblings are different races in the Fantastic Four reboot. [The Wrap]
